More hypocrisy from Helen Clark

The NZ Herald is reporting that the official parliamentary kaumatua* has died. Kaumatua are the priestly class of what the politically correct call “Maori spirituality”: the Maori religion is a blend of animism and ancestor worship.

You will note that John Rangitihi Rangiwaiata Tahuparae or John T was the first official parliamentary kaumatua, appointed in 2000 not long after Helen Clark began her despotic reign. Here’s the hypocrisy: in 2002 Helen refused to allow a grace at a state banquet where the Queen was present, saying “New Zealand is now a secular country”.

So, it is permissible to have an official Maori religious figure in a secular country, but it is not permissible to say an official Christian grace in a secular country.

Please answer this question Helen: if New Zealand is a secular country as you say, why did you not fire John T in 2002 when you declared that secularity?
