This youth was captured on a security camera as he and his friends vandalised some cars. You’d think that the police would view this nice clear picture as a gift, an easy way to improve their crime resolution statistics. But no, the car yard owner has been told that the job is a low priority, which is police-speak for “Don’t bother us, we’re too busy prosecuting Rodney Hide for putting a slogan on his yellow jacket“.
I have a very low opinion of the police, but if we are stuck with having them the least they could do is solve a few crimes against property. We certainly don’t get much in return for all the tax dollars that the government steals.
In an earlier post I proposed making the Police Commissioner an elected official: doing so would make the police accountable in situations such as this.
What do you think about having an elected Police Commissioner?
